Privacy and data protection
Use of User Data
Meoton GmbH, which operates the meoton.com website, does not itself collect, store or use any personal data about users, with the exception of IP addresses and data that users provide to the website via newsletter signup, a blog comment or by direct means of communication (e.g. e-mail).
“Personal data”, according to Art. 4 GDPR, means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person; an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person. Personal data may also include IP addresses.
Meoton GmbH may record and analyse movements on the website for reasons of website administration, system monitoring and management and to monitor the use and performance of the website. This is done on an anonymised basis.
When you call up and use our website, for technical reasons, in order to be able to display our website to you and for security reasons, we collect data that your browser automatically transmits to our server. This information is temporarily stored in a log file. This involves the following data:
- IP address of your device with which you access our website
- URL and name of the file accessed
- Date and time of access
- Website from which the access was made (referrer URL)
- Browser used and, if applicable, the operating system of your computer, as well as the name of your access provider
Newsletter Data
If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on the website, we need an email address from you as well as information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the email address provided and that you agree to receive the newsletter. No further data is collected or only collected on a voluntary basis. We use this data exclusively to send the requested information and do not pass it on to third parties.
The data entered into the newsletter registration form is processed exclusively on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a GDPR). You can revoke your consent to the storage of data, the e-mail address and their use to send the newsletter at any time, for example via the “unsubscribe” link in the newsletter. The legality of the data processing operations that have already taken place remains unaffected by the revocation.
The data you provide to us for the purpose of subscribing to the newsletter will be stored by us or the newsletter service provider until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and will be deleted from the newsletter distribution list after you unsubscribe from the newsletter or if the purpose no longer applies. We reserve the right to delete or block email addresses from our newsletter distribution list at our own discretion within the scope of our legitimate interest in accordance with Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
Data stored by us for other purposes remains unaffected.
After you have been unsubscribed from the newsletter distribution list, your email address may be stored in a blacklist by us or the newsletter service provider if this is necessary to prevent future mailings. The data from the blacklist will only be used for this purpose and will not be merged with other data. This serves both your interest and our interest in complying with legal requirements when sending newsletters (legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f GDPR). The storage in the blacklist is not limited in time. You can object to the storage if your interests outweigh our legitimate interests.

Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyse how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. In the event that IP anonymisation is activated on this website, however, your IP address will be truncated beforehand by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above.

YouTube with extended data protection
This website embeds videos from the YouTube website. The website is operated by Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
We use YouTube in extended data protection mode. According to YouTube, this mode means that YouTube does not store any information about visitors to this website before they watch the video. However, the extended data protection mode does not necessarily exclude the passing on of data to YouTube partners. This way, regardless of whether you watch a video, YouTube establishes a connection to the Google Marketing Network.
As soon as you start a YouTube video on this website, a connection to YouTube’s servers is established. The YouTube server is informed which of our pages you have visited. If you are logged into your YouTube account, you enable YouTube to assign your surfing behavior directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.
Furthermore, after starting a video, YouTube can store various cookies on your device or use comparable recognition technologies (e.g. device fingerprinting). In this way, YouTube can receive information about visitors to this website. This information is, among other things, used to collect video statistics, improve user experience and prevent fraud attempts.
If necessary, further data processing operations may be triggered after starting a YouTube video, over which we have no influence.
The use of YouTube is in the interest of an attractive presentation of our online offerings. This represents a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 Para. 1 lit TTDSG, insofar as the consent includes the storage of cookies or access to information on the user’s end device (e.g. device fingerprinting) within the meaning of the TTDSG. Consent can be revoked at any time.
Further information about data protection at YouTube can be found in their data protection declaration at: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de.
The company is certified according to the “EU-US Data Privacy Framework” (DPF). The DPF is an agreement between the European Union and the USA that is intended to ensure compliance with European data protection standards when data is processed in the USA. Every DPF certified company undertakes to comply with these data protection standards. Further information on this can be obtained from the provider at the following link: https://www.dataprivacyframework.gov/s/participant-search/participant-detail?contact=true&id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Active
